Among those you were able to find a broad range of well established wineries, e.g. Spier, or a boutique winery like Rickety Bridge who offer their best wines and therefore meet your personal demand and taste.
Allée Bleue – Tradition in South African winegrowing
The winery Allée Bleue in the picturesque Franschhoek valley is one of the oldest wine estates in South Africa and manages the balancing act between history and modern times. Buitenverwachting has been part of the first winery at the Cape, therefore it can look back on a lng history. In the 1980, Christine and Richard Müller gave it new splendour and revived the wine cultivation. By the way, the name Buitenverwachting translates to ‘Beyond Expectations’. An ambitious aim that the winemaker redeem year after year. Their creations with the unmistakable aroma are always at a high level.
Delaire Graff – Wonderful Location in a Unique Terroir
Delaire Graff and its wines like the Botmaskop have achieved an excellent standing in the South African wine industry within the shortest amount of time. With elegance and harmony, they have been impressing wine lovers and critics alike for more than three decades. Due to plenty of sunlight but also a cool sea breeze from the Atlantic, this landscape offers outstanding climatic conditions for grand wines at a top level.
Dornier – Focus on Premium Wine
The winery Dornier excites with its spectacular architecture of the cellar which sets an accent with its curved roof and is also a symbol for wine’s style which is characterized by elegance, complexity and uniqueness. The blends of the Donatus collection get high ratings in a nice regularity and offer a high pleasure like the creations of the Dornier and the Cocoa Hill Range.
Fairview – Fruitdriven Wine Creations
The winery has been run by the third generation of the Back family since 1937. The cultivation area is mostly planted with red varieties. Excellent and well balanced red wines are therefore the centrepiece of the Fairview Range even though the white wine range has continuously grown over the last years. No matter which variety or collection you prefer – the Back family and the winemakers working with Anthony de Jager always succeed in not only understanding the taste of gourmets with their fruit-dominated wines, but also meeting it.
Haute Cabrière – Home of Méthode Cap Classique
The tradition of Haute Cabrière dates back to 1694, when the French Huguenot Pierre Jourdan planted the first vines and named it after his home town, Cabrière. The winery specialized on the two grape varieties Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and the focus is on the production of outstanding sparkling wines whose bottles are uncorked in the traditional manner and style with a sabre (named sabrage) like the ancestors did – you should not miss this opportunity during a visit.
Graham Beck – Success due to unusual terroirs
The foundation for the success of Graham Beck was laid in 1983 by the man behind the name – Graham Beck, when he purchased the original winery Madeba. His ambition: building a world-class winery in South Africa! After a short amount of time, he had reached his aim. At the winery Graham Beck, the cellar master intervenes as little as possible in the natural processes. The optimal combination of the various terroirs offers the winery ideal cultivation areas for many varieties and therefore a wide range of different top wines.
Klein Constantia – Famous for its dessert wine
The winery Klein Constantia on the foot of the impressive Table Mountain is one of the most mysterious wineries worldwide and can look back on a history of 300 years. Here, terroir specific wines are produced which are unique and have a strong character. The wines speak a clear language of quality and numerous awards prove that this language is known worldwide. The creations of the Short Story Collection are reminiscent of personalities or special events in the history of the winery.
Rickety Bridge – Boutique Weine
The winery Rickity Bridge is based in the region of Franschhoek with view of the distinguished Franschhoek mountains, which are well known for their picturesque landscape. The outstanding reputation of the winery is shown in the high-class restaurant and guest-house. Each member puts a lot of passion and effort in his work, which is incarnated on the boutique vineyard as well as in each bottle of wine they produce. Wine enthusiasts and critics are excited especially from the wines “Paulina’s” and “The Bridge”.
Simonsig – Kaapse Vonkel and Méthode Cap Classique
With the Kaapse Vonkel, Simonsig has created the first Méthode Cap Classique, a sparkling wine which is produced after traditional bottle fermentation. For many gourmets, it is the best sparkling wine from South Africa still today due to its fine perlage and elegant taste. Over the years, the winemakers extended the portfolio with a rosé and the heavenly Cuvée Royale. But also the other numerous wines from Simonsig like the Redhill Pinotage, Mr. Borio’s Shiraz or the Chenin Avec Chene are true treasuries.
Spier – Wine of exceptional quality
The Spier Wine in our South African wine store is produced by the winemakers with high demand and great attention to the detail for their products. That is the only way how this South African wine can be produced in such a high quality. The judges of annual national and international wine competitions vote Spier Wine to one of the best wines in the county. They always make a splash in the world of wine, blow away many of their competitors and receive a lot of the Decanter Wine Awards and the prestigious John Platter stars.
Steenberg – Delight for all senses
The winery Steenberg whose orgin goes back to the year 1682, entices its guests in stylish atmosphere with modern delicacies of superlatives. The first farm owner was the energetic Catharina Ras, the first woman who owned land in South Africa. The great red wine “Catharina” and the restaurant were named after her. A harmonious balance between elegance, fruit and body characterise the Steenberg wines which are a great pleasure for any occasion.
Tokara – Strong and varied wines from the Cape
Tokara winery is in the near of the town Stellenbosch in the so-called Helshoogte Pass. This is the center for wineries and wine from South Africa. Modern ornamentation coupled with simple and plain designs make the winery a real eye catcher. Warm colours and natural resources create the vivid impression of the Tokara estate. Furthermore you got the breathtaking views of Table Mountain which is the landmark of Cape Town and the False Bay. In this unique environment it is perfect to enjoy a Tokara wine from South Africa.
Warwick – The First Lady of South Africa
From 1771 until 1902, the winery Warwick was known under the name ‚De Goede Sukses‘ and is located in the heart of the wine region Stellenbosch at the foothills of the Simonsberg Mountain. In 1964, Stan Ratcliffe purchased the farm after a long search for the perfect terroir at the Cape. Together with his wife Norma, he quickly realised the great potential of the soils and shaped for a long time Warwick’s history. The new owner Charles Marston and Kishore Bopardikar want to extend the worldwide recognition of the winery.
Waterford – Wine & Chocolate
Waterford offers four different wine ranges amongst which particularly the lines The Jem (the flagship from eleven different grape varieties), Family Reserve and Kevin Arnold are very popular. Not only in South Africa, but internationally, too! These noble bottles can be tried during a unique wine tasting at the beautiful winery. Matching the wines, there are different chocolate varieties ranging from dark chocolate up to milk chocolate, exclusively created by the chocolatier Richard von Geusau.
